About Me
I’m Jessie (she/her), the face behind Ongoing Self!
A little bit about me is that I immigrated to Canada when I was 5, and grew up across 6 different cities. I was also raised in a multi-faith household (Christianity, Buddhism, Atheism).
In my own life, I’ve seen the impact of generations of trauma, gender & cultural expectations, and lack of mental health support. It’s not easy trying to navigate everything all at once: your environment, your people, yourself.
My hope is to help you write a different future from the history handed to you.
The OS Way
Ongoing Self comes from the view that healing is not a finish line, but an ongoing practice. Life moves constantly, and with it, so do we.
My approach to counselling centres curiosity and connection. The goal is to help you create the change you’re looking for, but not as the end result. Rather, only as another page in your overall life story, where you hopefully understand that story better.
My role is to root for you. I’m with you when life feels like a storm. Even if you’re someone who has done “bad things”, I’m here to help you challenge that.
None of us experience the world in the same way. I aim to meet you in yours, with an informed lens that considers all of your intersectional (overlapping) identities, whether that’s race, gender, or anything else central to you.
There’s no singular way to pursue mental health.
Let’s find out yours.
Here’s a bit more…

Somatic: Awareness of emotions, memories, and sensations in your body, learning to regulate your nervous system.
Satir: Exploring your context and family structures.
IFS: Exploring different parts of you, or different stories, in conflict.

In our sessions, you’ll have a private space to talk openly about whatever you're going through. I’ll be here to listen without judgment. I’ll work with you to understand what’s going on and encourage you to explore what you truly want next in your story.
-
You don’t need to have a crisis or diagnosis to benefit from therapy. If you're feeling overwhelmed, stuck, anxious, or just not happy, it’s an option to explore that could help you thrive.

It’s great to have friends there for you, and I encourage you to talk to them!
My role is different because I don’t need anything back from you. You also don’t need to worry about the impact of what you say.
I’m also here to encourage self-awareness and change, not only letting your emotions out.

Much like going to the gym, what “working” looks like depends on your goals. You might find your goals change along the way.
I invite you to be patient, and give yourself time to notice a difference.
